AbstractCombined hydrophysical and hydrobiological investigations were carried out in the Eastern Mediterranean during several research cruises. On the basis of the obtained data, the Middle Eastern Mediterranean is offered to be used as a test water area for the satellite remote sensing in a visible spectral band. This water area exhibits high transparency, low concentration of suspended and dissolved matter both of biological and terrestrial origin, and high homogeneity of the spatial distribution of hydrooptical properties in the upper water layer. |
